Kay Bojesen
Kay Bojesen – Danish design
Only few people know that the renowned Danish wood carver Kay Bojesen was originally a silversmith for Georg Jensen, where he was educated in 1910. In fact it was not until the 1930's that Kay Bojesen chose to pursue his interest for wood carving and created the series of wooden figurines which have now become classics: The monkey, the elephant, the songbird, the hippo, the dog, the bear, the rabbit, the lovebird, the puffin, the rocking horse and the royal guards.
Today, the design house Rosendahl has bought the rights to the wooden figurines, and therefore you can still get your hands on many of Kay Bojesen's original designs - and continuously, new relaunches are added.
The Kay Bojesen cutlery is still sold by the company Kay Bojesen though, and it is also available right here at the Rikki Tikki Shop.
