Hoptimist
Hoptimist is a Danish design brand founded in 1968 by the furniture designer Hans Gustav Ehrenreich. In the period 1968-1971 he designed the cheerful and whimsical Hoptimist figures. The series started with the ceiling suspended Birdie quickly followed by Bimble, Bumble and the frog Kvak.
Hoptimists quickly became a hit, as the cute characters in bright colors and rounded shapes fit perfectly to the fashion and spirit of the time. Ehrenreichs vision was to design timeless and classic characters and he participated in several international exhibitions and received many honors both in Denmark and abroad for his woodcraft.
I 2009 the series was relaunched by designer Lotte Steffensen who reinterpreted the classic characters with great respect for the beloved originals under the company philosophy that a smile starts with another smile. Hoptimists produce smiles and bring joy around them and invites you to give the Hoptimist a slight tap on the head to get the figure to jump on the spot.
